As usual, it was my busy day while Lauren’s day was rather calm. I headed to my Asian cultures class that went by rather quickly, but sometimes I don’t think it is quick enough. I met up with Lauren in front of the library where we ate left over Domino’s pizza from the night before. We have come to a conclusion that we both could eat pizza every day, but we also agreed that it would not be good for us. It was International day at the uni which we were rather excited for, especially Lauren since they offer the same event at UNCC. We walked down Eastern Avenue (the main pathway through the university) and became slightly disappointed when we only saw at most 8 stalls displaying items from their country; not to mention most, if not all the stalls were from China or Japan. We walked up to the first tent and saw that they were handing out sushi rolls. Lauren really wanted one so she started walking that way until a lady asked her for an access card, then I saw Lauren walk right back over to me. Luckily I was looking at pictures hanging up and used that as an excuse of why I didn’t want a sushi roll, but the real reason is because I didn’t have an access card either. An access card is just a way for the uni to get more money out of the students since its like an ID card but with discounts and other benefits. We had decided not to get one early in the semester since we didn't really see the benefits considering we weren't planning on buying a lot of food on campus, but apparently free sushi rolls was included in that list of benefits. We sat back down for a little bit and watched the Taekwondo club warm up. There was one white girl in the group that Lauren said wasn’t representing well and I got a little kick out of it! Yet, it was rather amusing to both of us and agreed it would be a cool thing to learn. With another hour and a half between my next class, Lauren and I decided to take a trip to the markets since I was unsuccessful two days before. Usually the markets are a 20-25 minute walk from the university, but it only took us about 15 minutes since we had our boards. Every time we have been to the markets it has been packed like sardines, but since it was lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon, it wasn’t as busy as usual. We were on the hunt for lots of fruits since we are running pretty low, but come to find out most of the bananas are the same price as Coles bananas. Luckily, we made it to the back of the store where the prices are slightly lower and found some bananas for $1.99/kilo. We both decided that since we were heading to Wollongong this weekend we would need a lot of bananas, 12 to be exact. We also headed to the markets because I have been on the hunt for some tank-tops since I know it will be hot once we return to the States. The markets usually have a lot of souvenirs, tank tops being one of them. We found a stand that was selling them for only 6 bucks a pop, so we jumped on it and only bought one. Yea, I know, we really jumped on that deal. We decided to have a look around, but we didn’t really find much more. I headed back to the uni since I had a couple more classes and Lauren headed in the other direction to catch up on some Australian books that she had wanted to read. I finished up my classes around 6 and had dinner cooked and waiting for me! Even though we both just had spaghetti and garlic bread just a couple days before, this was another meal that we said we could have every week, but mainly just the garlic bread. We wrapped up the night by doing some laundry that was long over do.
