I have been patiently waiting for my study abroad plans in
Germany to finalize, or rather the plane tickets seeing as this will be my
biggest expense. Of course, the year that I am able to study abroad is the year
where the tickets are the most expensive they’ve ever been! This is why my
teacher decided to consult a travel agent to see if we couldn’t get a better
deal. In the end he wasn’t able to pull out any amazing stops and the majority
of the class thankfully decided to go with Delta airlines, the cheaper of the
two. However, they were all planning to fly out of Charlotte which isn’t
something that I wanted to do considering I live over three hours away. I
fanatically tried to work it all out, and with the help of my mom we figured
out the best option. I was ready to go ahead and book my ticket until we
realized that my credit card has a horrible interest rate due to it being my
first one and the fact that I’ve only had it for about a year. So that meant I
would have to wait yet another day to buy it and hope that the prices didn’t go
up as they are famous for doing. I was just ready to have my ticket though
since it would really finalize me going for a few short months! Having that
issue solved also meant that Riley and I could finally go do the coastal walk!
We had wanted to do this walk for quite some time since we’ve heard wonderful
things about it from many people. Basically it’s just a track or footpath that
runs along the water from Bondi beach all the way to Coogee or Maroubra beach.
We planned to do the Bondi to Coogee path which would be about 10 kilometers of walking. That’s about 6 miles and not something that intimidates us at this point. We were just thankful that the weather was holding up and not raining for once. We caught the bus down to Bondi to start at the beginning and walked through the town until we reached the beach to pick up the track. It turned out to be a really nice day and we ended up shedding a few layers within minutes of walking along the coast. It truly was as picturesque as everyone made it out to be since it wander through and up the rocky edges and stayed along the coast.

The cemetery overlooked the ocean! |
There were a lot more beach fronts than we realized, but really we don’t think
they should be called beaches. A lot of them were just bays with only a few
meters of sand before the rocks took back over. Australians would definitely be
amazed at our miles and miles of sandy beaches. We took our time walking and
talking, but it really didn’t take us long to finish at all. We even stopped
right before we got to Coogee beach on a rock ledge to overlook the surfers.
The waves are getting a lot bigger than when we first got here, but since not
as big as we imagined they would be for such a highly populated surfer
community.

All the walking throughout the day definitely made our stomachs
grumble and without enough time to make dinner we decided that today was going
to be a Dominoes day! We haven’t had Dominoes in over a month so we are beyond
proud of ourselves. We caught the bus back to Central station and stopped at
the Dominoes that was closest to there. We placed our order with a guy that barely seemed to understand us so
when we said the total was $9.80 we were a little confused. At the other
Dominoes we pay almost $12 for the same order so we figured he must have gotten
something wrong along the way. But we double checked and it seemed to be
alright so we gladly paid the lower price. Come to find out they have an even
better Tuesday deal of $4.95 pizzas! We limited ourselves to one slice each for
the walk back and then chowed down upon arrival. We only had a little bit of
down time until we got wrapped up again to venture down to Neill’s place for
another boardgame night. We know that we have limited days left in Australia,
so we want to go as much playing time in there as we can! We played two games
of Dominion which we really like since there’s no right way to win the game.
Its all about building your deck of cards and doing the best with what you
have. Of course Neill was triumphant, but we’re starting to pick up on his
strategies. To end the night we played a quick game of Cluedo where Riley was
the winner! He didn’t hesitate to stand up and do a victory dance after that!
